Happy One Year, LA.

Exactly one year ago today I muscled up the courage to no longer just talk about what I wanted to do. I made a conscious choice to no longer just talk about my dreams, to no longer talk about what I would love to do one day in the fashion industry.  I went for it.

I am extremely lucky; I have always known exactly what I wanted to do with my life. Ever since I was five years old experimenting with my rather wild personal style, going to preschool in floor length dresses and pig tails everyday, I knew the impact I was meant to make on the world. I knew it would be through fashion.

One year ago, I stepped on a plane and moved across the country to attend fashion school and turn my dreams into my sweet reality.  I knew this was going to be a magical adventure but I had no clue just how life changing it would be. I moved to Los Angeles primarily for schooling and my career, which have all been spiraling up-hill ever since. But what I also found was getting out of my comfort zone and shutting down any hesitations or fears I may have had was the most freeing and rewarding experience yet.

My angel of a mother and my younger brother flew with me to LA to help me move. I remember it so clearly. The day they left I had my “oh shit” moment. I just stood on my balcony looking at this beautiful city thinking, I am all the way across the country from anyone I know, I can’t believe this is my life. I had a sense of a “what do I do now?” feeling. I had an epiphany. All of the b.s. reasons I have ever fed myself were just that; B.S. There is no reason I (or YOU!) should ever hesitate to pursue the full potential of our dreams or ourselves. I made a promise to myself that the best relationship I would have would be with myself. I programmed my mind free of fears, self-doubt and hesitation. It is incredibly inspiring and freeing to believe in yourself and know that you can make your dream life happen.

I have grown so much in this beautiful city of angels in this past year. I can’t wait to see what the next year has in-store for me, or rather what I have in-store for it.

As cliché as I hate to be, I think it’s a little late to worry about that in this post. With that being said, be unruly proud of yourself. You are the power house you imagine in your mind. You have the ability to make your dream life happen. What is stopping you?

Happy one year, Los Angeles. I love you.

This past year wouldn’t have been the same without the wonderful souls I have met in LA, or my rock of a support system back on the other coast. Here are a few moments from the past year in LA.

Brunchin' is a Habit

Hello loves! I apologize for the momentary lapse in posts. One word: finals. Today, we are back on schedule with a post about a few of my favorite things; fashion and brunch. Oh, how does it get better..

This Sunday I went to a restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles called Perch. I opted for one of my newest pickups, which is this light grey trench coat. This coat is on the shorter side (for a trench coats) so it is perfect for the warmer months. I paired it with a simple black tank and jean shorts for an unexpected twist with the coat to keep it on the casual side. I went with gold jewelry because I wanted it to match the hardwear on my bag and heels.

Adding a trench coat to any outfit automatically spices up your look to make it look like it took longer to get ready than it really did. Especially in the summer months where layering can be tricky! Your favorite shorts and a simple tank will go perfectly with any trench or over-sized blazer.

The Deets:
Coat: Forever 21
Tank: Nordstrom
Shorts: American Eagle
Heels: Kohls
Bag: Just Fab
Watch and ring: Marc by Marc Jacobs

If you are in the Los Angeles area I would definitly recommend Perch! Super cool location with a great view. I got the "Three Egg Omlet" and it was delish. This place is the perfect spot to go on a date or just out with the girls. And of course, brunch is not brunch without a photo opt of some sort.

Hope you all enjoyed!
